About Us

The National Commission for Civic Education is Constitutionally Mandated to create and sustain awareness of the principles and objectives of the 1992 Constitution as the Fundamental Law of the land, has held numerous activities from the Month of January, 2023 to date.

THEME FOR 2023

The Theme for the year is “30 Years of Consolidating Constitutional Democracy: Building National Cohesion through Civic Education and Participation in Local Governance.”

Topics and activities covered but not limited to the following were:

NCCE IN COLLABORATION WITH GOVERNANCE AFRICA FOUNDATION

The National Commission for Civic Education Central Tongu with support from Governance Africa Foundation on 25th of April 2023, supplied over 200 copies of the 1992 Constitution to some selected schools across the district. The aim was to encourage the pupils to be abreast with laws of the land.

CONSTITUTION WEEK CELEBRATION

The Constitution Week Celebration is one of the flagships programmes of the National Commission for Civic Education(NCCE). The week was instituted in 2001 to commemorate the country’s return to constitutional democratic rule. Significantly, April 28, 1992, was the day the Ghanaian electorate voted favorably in a referendum that adopted the draft Fourth Republican Constitution which subsequently came into full force on 7th January 1993. 28th of April to the 4th of May has been observed as the Annual Constitution Week.

The District Director Mr. George A K Amey, engages Central Tongu Pensioners Association on 3rd May 2023, to remind them the need for them to continue upholding our democracy, peaceful co-existence and the respect for rule of law, which are some of the pillars of our Democracy.

They were also reminded to actively take part in the upcoming district level elections. As this will bring development in their various communities.

CITIZENSHIP WEEK CELEBRATION

The goal of the citizenship week celebration is to remind the pupils of their responsibilities as agents of change, the future leaders who can build peaceful, strong and united democratic Ghana. Citizenship week is also designed to feature eminent personalities who are considered worthy role models in society to interact and impart virtues of good citizenship to pupils across the country.
